Weekly Youth Fellowship Meeting - On Sunday evenings from 5:00-7:00 p.m. AUMC youth, in grades 6-12, and friends gather together for recreation, fellowship, food, worship, study and mission. After Youth choir, we gather at 5:00 in Wright Hall for snack-supper. This year we will have sit-down dinners together– a great time to slow down & fellowship. After eating, we meet for different programs.

We end each Youth Group with fun activities, games, etc. The Youth enjoy games of Dodge Ball, Volleyball and Soccer. We also have card games and time to use the pool table, ping pong table and air hockey.

Several bi-district events are scheduled each year including roller skating, a bowling lock-in and retreats. These give the youth an opportunity to meet and fellowship with other local Christian youth.

Youth Week is held in August each year. It serves as a last summer celebration and as a rally for the upcoming school year.

Sunday School - Sunday School is held year round from 9:45-10:45 am. This is a time of learning through discussion of issues and ideas that you can use in your spiritual journey.

 

 

Youth Ministry Team - The Youth Ministry Team oversees all AUMC Youth Ministry programs. It is composed of both middle and high school youth and interested adults. The team leaders meet at designated times, but regular ministry discussions and decisions are made during youth group time so that all are included in the development of Youth Ministry at AUMC. We will meet at 6:45 on the thirdt Tuesday of each month for dessert and planning.

 

 

Confirmation - “Claim the Name” is a unique experience for youth who would like to explore their Christian faith and to be confirmed as full members of the United Methodist Church. Share the Well - This Youth Ministry program is designed for High School students. We meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the parlor. It is a time for spiritual growth, support, prayer and discussion about how to live out your faith everyday and how to share your faith with friends.

Handbells & Choir - Middle and high school students rehearse each Wednesday at 5:15 for hand-bells and Sunday at 4:00 for choir. The only requirement is that you enjoy singing or wish to learn. The group sings a variety of music, from gospel to contemporary.

Possible Youth Mission Trips - The Pittsburgh Project: This mission project is similar to other work projects, but this one is set in the city. Youth and leaders spend the week working on homes and ministering to the homeowners. The youth also enjoy worship and fellowship throughout the week.

Voices Of Youth: Youth, in grades 10-12, apply and audition for this mission project. The group travels– singing at different churches and doing mission projects along the way.

Mountain T.O.P.: The youth of both the Senior High and Junior High go to a little county in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee to provide a one week day camp for the children. During this week we learned what their life was about. We talked to them about God while playing games and making crafts with them.

Jeremiah Project: A Middle School only trip, youth are assigned small work projects. These projects are completed within a few days: house painting; building wheel chair ramps; and yard work. The youth that attended Jeremiah Project really enjoyed the chance to interact with the families, as well as the other volunteers in their groups.

Appalachian Service Project: For over 10 years, youth and adults from AUMC have attended the Appalachian Mountains for a week of house repairs. We also enjoy interaction with the families living in those homes. The main objective for the week is to make homes livable, warmer, drier, safer, and have a good time with others around you.
