PRAYER TREE

Caring Ministries

Guidelines

1. The Prayer Tree is designed to uplift people who are in need of prayer, to have as many people as possible praying for a person, family or situation. In cases of emergencies, it is designed to function quickly.

2. The tree will function with a staff member of the church emailing the people who have volunteered to make phone calls.

3. Keep a notebook or file to take down the information you will receive.

4. When you are contacted, you will be given all the information there is. Some people desire very little information given, some people desire detailed information given. We are here to minister to the needs of those who have requested prayer and one way to do this is to honor their desires about the information we receive.

5. Pray immediately when you get the request. Do not leave the computer without praying.

6. Pray regularly for all the people in your notebook or file. Keep track in the notebook or file when people go off the prayer list. You will receive regular updates on all the people.

7. Give praise when prayer is answered. Remember to thank God for the answers to prayers, even when they may not be the answers we looked for or expected.

8. Do Not Discuss the Prayer Tree requests with other people, even those for whom you have been praying. For many people prayer is a deeply personal task. Asking for prayer is difficult for many. Please, keep the confidence of people by making sure our Prayer Tree is confidential.

9. Thank you for participating this vital ministry of Annandale United Methodist Church.
