A part of discipleship is spending time in learning and practicing our faith. Our new service, the Open Worship Gathering, is an act of faith and the disciples working on it have decided to give ourselves some time to practice it! Our ultimate mission is to make disciples (sound familiar?) and our focus is on outreach. We want to be a service that will meet the needs of those who are searching for God, but are uncomfortable with traditional worship styles. So, we are inviting everyone in the congregation to help us practice and learn. Instead of trying to “work out the kinks” with a roomful of people who might be in church for the first time in years, we would like to do it in a room full of forgiving friends! Beginning with the Consecration Ritual on January 21, we will have a monthly service and YOU are invited! Starting in February, we will have a worship service the last Sunday of each month. We meet at the Gathering Place (formerly the Media Center) from 9:45-10:45 am. Please come! Yes, it is experimental. Yes, we will be practicing. But, we will also be worshiping! And you don’t even have to miss your regular worship that week. You could go to both! This is a mission of the church and just as I have seen you so generously support our other missions, I hope that each of you will support the new service with outpourings of your time and feedback. We are working to live out the good news, spreading the love of God to a new group of people. After this time of learning, we will begin our official outreach efforts and a weekly service in September. Please keep us in your prayers and join us if you would like to share in this wonderful adventure! God bless,
